Expert opinion about migration in Nicaragua
- Nicaragua has a database that contains recent findings about the immigration status nationwide. Called Migration Profile that presents migration trends and characteristic of the migration population, provides official information for migration management, provided by Nicaraguan institutions.
"For the EU, the ultimate goal is to gradually move
towards a positive relationship between
migration and development, which more adequately manage migration and irregular
situations or violations of human
rights such as traffic avoidance
and trafficking. The development of the migration profile of Nicaragua is a prime example
of good practice", said Ivo Gombala, Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union in Nicaragua.
- The Head of the IOM Office in Nicaragua, Carmen Paola Zepeda, said that among the different reasons of Nicaraguans who migrate, the principal, is to seek better economic opportunities. The labor component, but significant proportions of Nicaraguan migrants are vulnerable by their irregular status in destination countries.
"Aware of
these problems, Nicaragua implements the Consular Registration, providing a
Nicaraguan to Consular card identified as the Nicaragua national" Zepeda
said.
According to the views of experts on the issue of
migration in Nicaragua. I agree with them, because the creation of databases and migration profile,
allows for proper registration of the immigration situation and this way take
control the unwanted situations by people as human trafficking and violence. Regarding the establishment of a register
that allows Nicaraguans have a card that
identifies them as citizens of Nicaragua,
I agree, because it is important legal document for the competitive authorities
as the police, immigration, army, customs office and thus are not violated
the rights of these people.
